Why a Podcast?

Dave & Mat explain in their own words the goal and thinking behind starting the Business of Digital Podcast:

Mat’s Thoughts and Goals

I hate writing and am a horrible blogger.  I have so many things to say, but when I go to put it down on paper (so to speak) it never happens.  Podcasting has been something that I have wanted to do for years.  My wife says I have zero issues just talking and talking and talking, so this should be fun! Thankfully Dave was the driver behind this crazy idea of mine held me accountable to make it happen.  Luckily, Dave and I get along very well, and for those of you that do not know this, I have a background in radio.  I used to be a co-host on a morning country show, way (and I mean WAY) back in the day, so hopefully we don’t sound like complete idiots!  One thing we DO know is Internet marketing and what a SMB needs to do grow and become profitable. We did not create this podcast for people in our industry to learn from, we created this podcast for those (new to Internet marketing) business owners, wanting to learn how to grow their business online.  Dave and I know a lot of people too, so be on the lookout for guest podcasters and just amazing information.  Buckle-up, this should be fun!

Dave’s Thoughts and Goals

From Fortune 500 to the smallest company digital marketing and just “going” digital is something everyone will need to do. The same week Mat and I sat down and really started to flesh out the idea and goal of this podcast an article came out about 3,500 retail stores closing. Some are closing completely, some are downsizing offline operations and some are going to become pure online retailers. More than ever there are so many moving parts from a website to social media to paid search to organic search to content marketing to email and more. There are likely podcasts and entire online/offline magazines to cover each but what often is missed is how to implement, how to prioritize, how to hire for the ever changing digital landscape. These types of topics and that angle is what I HOPE we can help our listeners with.
